Canine Catering was started by Alana Macías, an animal lover who comes from a long line of vegetarian and macrobiotic cooks and herbalists. She has been cooking healthy food for herself and her family for over 9 years.

Between March 15, 2007 and August 22, 2007, a massive pet food recall illustrated the unreliability of store bought pet food. By the end of March, veterinary organizations reported more than 100 pet deaths amongst nearly 500 cases of kidney failure, with one online database self-reporting as many as 3,600 deaths as of April 11. After learning about what was, and wasn’t, in commercial pet food, she realized that her animal family members needed nutritional healing, too. This prompted Alana’s desire to switch to organic, locally grown food ingredients: these food sources are nearby, safe, and have less environmental impact to boot. Canine Caterer’s methods and ingredients are completely transparent and free of harmful chemical contamination or preservatives. All recipes used are veterinarian developed.
